New Products Help Eyelash Growth

Remarkable advances have been made to improve our looks -- including lasers for skin resurfacing and Botox to prevent wrinkles. Now there may be something to enhance eye lashes. New eyelash products may actually help grow lashes, and it all started as side-effects from common prescription drugs.

Eyelashes have become one of the hottest trends in cosmetics, the longer and thicker-the better.

Eyelash extensions involve individual lashes glued one-by-one above the base of each lash. The cost: $300 dollars for the first session and fifty dollars every two weeks for a touch-up. Although the price is steep, business is booming.

But instead of gluing on lashes - fascinating new research suggests we may be able to "grow" our own long lashes. Surprisingly, it all started with these three glaucoma drugs - called prostaglandin analogs. These new treatments for glaucoma other benefits and side effects.

Some doctors are even telling patients to put a drop of one of these glaucoma drugs on a cue tip and apply it to the base of their lashes to stimulate lash growth.

Just like Jan Marini was pulled off of the market due to possible drug side effect, Revitalash has the same ingredient as Jan Marini eyelash conditioner (pulled out of the market). For patients using the prescription drug, using the Revitalash in addition to the drug may increase the risk of optic nerve damage because the extra dose of bimatoprost may decrease the prescription drug's effectiveness. Damage to the optic nerve may lead to decreased vision and possibly blindness. Recently, Revitalash has changed its formula, but the ingredients are not written anywhere on their website.

It didn't take long for marketers to come up with seemingly less risky eyelash products that are applied topically - like eyeliner. So far there are two different brands - one even lists an ingredient very close to a prostaglandin analog compound. The other boldly claims to grow lashes. they're expensive at about $160 a tube, but they still cost less than $300 dollar eyelash extensions..."if" they work.

All of the eyelash products with any prostoglandin can potentially cause decreased vision and darkening of the iris. There are some new eyelash conditioners that are peptide complexes which grow eyelashes without any side effect. If jan marini eyelash product was removed, Revitalash and MD lash factor, and Massive lashes should be removed from the market as well. This tells me that FDA has targeted only one company. If there was any serious issues, than howcome they are not after the other ones. I think, the FDA was paid by Allergan. Conclusion: Bigger companies are manipulating the government to benefit themselves. That’s not fare. Do not buy Allergan Products please. Boycott Allergan including their other skin care products such as MD Forte, Vivete, Allergan.

Revitalash has damaged my friends vision. She was seen by her optemologist. Her blue eyes are no longer blue. Revitalash reviews indicate that some people have experienced decreased vision.

My girlfriend also experiences darkening of her eyes after using Revitalash. Revitalash reviews reveal that some customers have experienced darkening of their eyes. Can someone tell me why this happens. Is it because of the prostoglandin use (which they are not suppose to use)?

Any eyelash growth products or stimulators that are not based on prostoglandin. I just found out that Revitalash has been using a drug which was confiscated from another company.

I just bought my tube of activlash and received it yesterday. Hopefully it works. Now days who doesn’t really wish they could look better? Botox, restylane, juvederm, smart lipo and revitalash are everywhere people go. We can’t stop it by just saying its “poison” like people say about Botox. Ok, it is, so what?! Didn’t it take ur wrinkles away? We are all going to age and die, so, let’s look good in the process of aging.

I have used both Revitalash (when Jan Marini was off the market) & then Jan Marini when it was reintroduced last year. It works for sure. However, I stopped due to blurring vision problems. I suspect this is the cause. Also, an eye dr. told me that it turns his patients’ blue eyes brown in spots, permanently!

I was skeptical at first, but did pay $130 for it based on my friend’s recommendation. Well, 6 weeks passed and nothing … then suddenly, my eyelashes grow, thicker and longer. No need for mascara anymore. You can find it cheaper at ebay for around $70 bucks.

Beware of Revitalash. $160 drained. No returns from revitalash official website because they are asking me to use it for more than 60 days. Poor customer service.

I have used many different eyelash products, and recently read about activelash product. It works great. I have beautiful eyelashes now. I just should have applied it to the bottom ones every other day as they are just as long as the top ones. I prefer the bottom ones to be shorter a bit.

Great eyelash product. I like both Revitalash and Activlash. Revitalash is expensive compared to Activlash. I believe they are both by the same company as they feel the same.
